My husband and I have both had RNY, we are going to WDW in Aug.  Has anyone used the restraunte card there.  Most of the character dining is buffet........... to expensive and too much food. I was wondering if they would let me give me the childs price?

I doubt you can use a restaurant card there -- but I have ordered a childs meal.

In my opinion the restaurant card is worthless!!!!!! They look at you and think you are trying to get something for nothing!!!!!!! I just order soup or something from the appitizer menu or eat from my husbands plate and call it a day. I am a cheap date. Just order one meal for you and your husband and share it. I know the food at WDW is exspensive!!!!! Just plan on it and have fun. Carla from Bradenton, But hangin  out in Colorado for a month

I agree Carla.  I would never use the restaurant card.  I just order an appetizer and sometimes if there is something good I will order off the childrens menu.  Last week at Denny's I ordered the Jr Grand Slam  at 3.49 and had one egg, one strip of bacon, one sausage and three silver dollar pancakes.  I ate it all, except I only ate a couple of bites of the pancakes.  It was perfect.

You can try to use the card. I have used it but have stated I had stomach surgery - not necessarily gastric bypass cause they don't understand what that means. Some places are okay and have honored it but some places (like chinese) don't honor them so I'd chose where I would use it. I would order an appetizer...my maiin concern is that you're still very new to your surgeries and have to be very careful what rides you get on. Most of the rides tie you down and can get rough. I was 6 months out or more and I went to NY to a park out there and got in a roller coaster which bumped my belly ALOT and I thought I had done some damage to myself especially when I got off I was hurting so bad. So please be careful on rides...even in Magic Kingdom some of the kiddie type rides can be a rough ride for a surgical newbie. Best of luck to you guys and enjoy Orlando when you come!

Hello Lola,  I am new to this world of RNY and surgery but I am a Disney Pro!  I work with the mouse and eat and stay on property all the time!  In my experiance they work with you!  When I go to dine at WDW most of the time it is me and my daughter and we order one meal and they have no issues with giving you a 2nd plate to divided it up!  As for the Character Dining and the buffets I have not taken this on yet but I am going on Friday 6-22 so I will try it and let you know!   For the rides I am just under 3 months out and I have not had any issues with any of the rides as well I went to Sea World and Rode Kracken (roller coster) with no issues!  I will get back to you in a week and let you know what my experiance was with the buffet!

I went to Disney at 3months Post-Op, and had a blast. The rides were no problem, and the restaurants were very good about accomodating me. I have to say that I live off of burger patties and fries for a week though. I am not sure how far along you are, but pace yourself. It was too much walking for me, and it was very hot. All you do is wait in lines for hours. I was eating every 2 hours just to keep my energy up, and keep a drink on you at ALL times. Just be prepared, and know your limits..You will have a great time..My friend and I were both Post-Op, and we went to the park for about 4 hours and then went back to take a nap, and then went back to the park at night. Don't push yourself, and you'll do fine. Have fun!!!

I seriously doubt, too, that you can use the restaurant card at WDW in the attractions.  The children's meals are a good choice....even in the restaurant style dining at Epcot.   I don't know about the buffet dining since we seldom go to them after my WLS.  Have a fun trip and make sure you always take along the water! luvitsunnyv

Hello Lola and all other WLS peep's:  I wanted to report back about Going to WDW.  I spent the day in the heat shleping (sp) throught thousands of people in the Magic Kingdom!!! I know I am crazy!    I am happy to report back that 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian DID take the WLS card!!!  and much to my suprise and excitment she explained that she THINKS that all the character dining locations work this way.  I was given a child's price for my breakfast.  So all don't be afraid to bring your WLS card to Disney because all you have to do is ask and she did state that they MUST  see the card to give your the kids price!  If you have any additional questions please feel free to ask and YES I did ride alot of the rides and had no issues with fitting or didn't feel sick from anything!
